The Brazilian industrial poultry industry was taking its first steps when Yamasa’s technology emerged. The company was founded in the 1960s in the state of São Paulo, near the city of Bastos, which was beginning to gain recognition for its large egg production and would later become known as Brazil’s Egg Capital.

Yamasa was born through the vision of Japanese immigrant Yorio Yamazaki, an inventive man who made his mark in Brazilian poultry history by creating some of the first egg washing and grading machines to meet the needs of Brazil’s emerging egg industry. The machines developed by Yorio accelerated production in egg packing rooms and contributed significantly to the professionalization of poultry farming.

In the 1970s, pioneer Yorio was joined by his son Nelson Yamasaki, who began assisting in managing the business. This period marked the adoption of new administrative concepts, with a focus on improving the machines invented by Yorio. As production grew, it became necessary to build a dedicated sales team to serve various regions across Brazil.

Yamasa entered a new era of accelerated growth and innovation, even amid prolonged periods of economic challenges. These were the 1980s and 1990s — decades of resilience and transformation.

As the new millennium began, the 2000s brought fresh challenges and exciting opportunities. Globalization opened doors worldwide, expanding Yamasa’s reach and market potential.

The company and its team began participating more frequently in key industry exhibitions in Brazil, across Latin America, and in the United States. Through these events, Yamasa built a strong network of relationships and representatives throughout the Americas, strengthened its domestic sales force, and implemented new ideas to enhance its product portfolio.

Challenges continue to drive progress. In response to market demands, Yamasa invested in modernizing large-scale equipment and launched the Breeder and Hatching Division, Yamasa Hatching Division (YHD), a sector that celebrated 15 years in 2023 and has been rapidly growing alongside hatcheries and breeding farms.

The strategy of internationalizing the Yamasa brand delivered strong results. In 2010, the company received the Exporta São Paulo Award, presented by the State Government.

In 2025, Yamasa celebrates 60 years of innovation in poultry technology and automation, with a solid presence in over 30 countries worldwide.
